FAQ
Frequently asked questions about ordering, shipping, products, and trade accounts.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes. We offer Net-30 terms, volume discounts, and a dedicated account manager for IT contractors, AV integrators, low-voltage installers, and corporate IT teams. See our Trade Accounts page to apply.
Can I get a quote before I order?
Absolutely. For project lists, large orders, or freight items, email sales@rackit.com or use the Contact form with your part list and ship-to ZIP. We typically return formal quotes within one business day.
Do you ship to job sites?
Yes. We ship parcel and freight to commercial addresses, residential addresses, and active job sites. Just put the project name and a phone number for the receiver in the address field.
What's the difference between CMR (riser) and CMP (plenum) cable?
CMR (riser) is rated for vertical runs between floors. CMP (plenum) is rated for use in air-handling spaces (drop ceilings used as return air, raised floors with HVAC). CMP is the stricter rating and works anywhere CMR is allowed; CMR cannot substitute for CMP. Local code dictates which you need — if you're not sure, plenum is always safe.
What cable category should I use?
Cat5e is fine for 1Gbps and is being phased out for new installs. Cat6 is the current default for 1Gbps with headroom for 10Gbps over short runs. Cat6a supports 10Gbps over the full 100m channel and is recommended for new structured cabling. Cat8 is overkill for most jobs and used for short data-center patch runs.
Do you sell pre-terminated patch cords or just bulk?
Both. We carry pre-made patch cords from 6 inches to 100 feet in multiple colors and ratings, plus 1000ft bulk pull boxes for in-wall runs.
Do your racks ship assembled?
Wall-mount enclosures and small open-frame racks ship assembled. Full-size 4-post cabinets (24U and larger) ship knocked-down on a pallet via LTL freight — they're easier and cheaper to ship that way, and assembly takes about an hour with two people.
How do I track my order?
A tracking link is emailed automatically when the carrier picks up. You can also log into your account on rackit.com to view order status and tracking.
Can I return a product?
Yes — see our Shipping & Returns page for the full policy. Short version: 30 days, items must be unused and in original packaging, and we cover return shipping if we made the mistake.
Do you offer custom cable assemblies?
Not at this time. We carry an extensive range of standard lengths and ratings, but custom builds are not yet part of our catalog. If you need a custom length, contact us — we may be able to source it through a partner.
Who do I contact for warranty issues?
Email support@rackit.com with your order number, the affected product, and a description (and photos if relevant). We coordinate with the manufacturer on your behalf and replace defective product at no charge during the warranty period.
